Capturing Today's Moments: Creating Tomorrow's Memories

July 17, 2011 - S'more cake?
Yesterdays first photo and blog entry was a bit emotional. I am not going to say I am not an emotional person - Lord knows - I am! Everything I feel I feel deeply whether it be joy, happiness, pride, anger. Anyway - right now I am feeling proud - and amused. :) Not every photo and entry will be about Emily (promise). I will have quite a few about my oldest daughter Kylie and my husband Ian as well. This one however - is about Em again. Emmie has a love for making and decorating cakes. She makes all the birthday cakes for her friends. The cakes are her gift to them. Em's friend Kaysie wanted a .... s'more cake for her birthday. When I heard that - I groaned. How are we gonna do that? Leave it to Em to be resourceful and find not only the directions but specific recipes for everything she needed to do. This is the result - Kaysie's birthday smore cake! It is 100% homemade graham crackers, white cake with marshmallow buttercream filling, white buttercream frosting covered in marshmallow fondant - that again Em made from scratch. She even melted chocolate chips and cooled them to look like a chocolate bar on the bottom of the s'more.
As I am sure you have already figured out - the second photo in the collage is of Kaysie and Emily (on the right). The small, pathetic mess of cake scraps on the bottom right - that is what Em gave to her family.
See how we rate? Scraps! We're feeling the love! ;)
