Capturing Today's Moments: Creating Tomorrow's Memories

October 2009 - Daily Photos
Read MoreOctober 3, 2009 Yesterdays daily was a photo of the western sky after a severe thunderstorm went through the county. This is the eastern sky as the storm moved through Rockwall county.
Diane (Tewmom) and Jill and I took a fun, silly quiz on FB - what 1970's song best describles you? Our results were the same "Let It Be". One of my all time favorites that always calms me when I am feeling stressed or upset about something...........
And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be
Ray - I would love to check out your work - but I can't if you don't let anyone know where we can do that. Perhaps you would be kind enough to post a link so we can do as you asked.
Kylie - you are a sweetie-pie. I love you.

on October 5, 2009Jen I've come late to this "debate" about processing images, I was going to write loads in support of your work, but Bill has captured it much better than I was going to :)
I've noticed a common thread in people who make nonsensical criticisms, there isn't a link to their own work, I wonder why ;)

on October 5, 2009First let me say this, Nice CAPTURE Jennifer ! It's a beautiful scene, wonderful composition and excellent detail. Now before I lose my cool I will say this, i don't know from under what rock this guy RAY has come from or what his IDEA of photography is but it is quite obvious that he has been living in a cave somewhere and has no idea of what he is talking about, so don't let this troll upset you. A good photographer is an ARTIST and any artist uses what ever tools are available to them in order to create their art piece. Having over 30+ years of expieriance in this field myself and having used just about every type of camera, film, Paper & CHEMICALS in a dark room ALL professional photographers have been changing their images for decades using techniques available to them in order to get the image THEY wanted form the shot they took. Now it's much easier for us to do in the digital age with software & computer manipulation rather then ruining our cloths with splash backs from a chemical tray or drips from them hanging on a cloths line while drying. Mr. Ray I would ask that you look in any book or magazine that uses digital photography and see if you can show me a single image that has not been Processed after it was taken, at bare minimum images are always Sharpened, levels & curves adjusted and cropping done. You would have to be a fool NOT to process your images before showing them. 99.9% of all images are processed in one way or another, so you may have a serious delusion that anyone stating they CAPTURED an image and worked on it afterward is being DISHONEST and to suggest this woman whom is a very good artist is being dishonest according to YOUR standards is down right pitiful. Oh and this this nonsense about it being a PRAISE site is also way off the mark my friend, this is a GROUP of photographer known as the DAILIES where folks post everyday images to get IDEAS, INSPIRATION from others & to LEARN how to take more inventive shots. People with PRO accounts also SELL their images as I do for my CLIENTS more then anything and if the general public wishes to purchase our images they can do that too. So please INFORM yourself a little better on things BEFORE you go off and start making accusations about someones work, you might find yourself feeling a little more educated that way. I think I know what I'm talking about & my credentials and work speak for themselves as an international award winning Photographer and ARTIST ~Best Regards, Bill Pador
PS: Jennifer I'm sorry that you had to have some uneducated troll upset you like this, you just keep up the good work & making your fans happy and do what you do best regardless of what anyone tells you, Period !

on October 4, 2009Wait a second you fruitcake, my mother DOES 'capture' her pictures. She has stood out in the rain during severe thunderstorms, continuously clicking away to capture lightening shots. She has waited for lord only knows how long in the middle of busy theme park until a monorail went by and she was able to 'capture' it passing infront of Spaceship Earth. She has driven me crazy as she has stopped every few seconds to take pictures of the most RANDOM things ever- only to make them look really cool and funky in the picture (and yes- they looked that way even BEFORE they were moved into an editing program). That sky you see in this picture? She didn't edit that. It REALLY WAS that color.
My mother does not post her photography here simply for "praise". She posts here to LEARN. To get C/C and new ideas that just may help her get better at doing something she loves. I'm sorry if that and this site obviously wasn't what you were looking for. I sincerly hope that after a little more searching, you will find that and be on your merry way. =)

on October 4, 2009JD - You asked "Why me?" Why am I picking on you? I don't know you. I came to SmugMugs to check it out because they were selling me on the idea that their site was a great place to sell my photographs. When I visited their home page, you photo was featured. So I selected it to see what you were selling yesterday's (Oct. 2) image for. All I could find is the same old "Posting for Praise" site. I was dissappointed and frustrated! Sorry it had to be you. Price you pay for giving it away.
